Kingsoft Office - Like No Other!|
If the English language had a word that described "beyond infinity" that word would also describe where Kingsoft Office is placed alongst all "Office" software suites.
Even before Microsoft "stumbled" upon its flagship bound software suite; taking some seemingly unrelated yet commonly used "office" software products and binding them together using a common shared "data interchange", and calling the resulting bound software "MS Office", there was intense competition between software producers; especially Wordprocessing and Spreadsheet producers, with each software upgrade adding significant, though infrequently used, functionality and, of course, additional "bulk" to the software's runtime memory footprint. (a runtime tradition boldly continued by Microsoft and eagerly satiated by PC and RAM manufacturers.)
Ever growing software functionality requires ever expanding complexity which in-turn requires ever more re-training requiring ever larger training budgets and/or ever declining training course choice, etc. In short, productivity declined whilst the cost of 'office computing' increased and ever growing numbers of companies and administrative services are seeking to not only reduce significantly the hardware and software monetary costs but many are more aggressively seeking to reduce the costs associated with training and re-training of never again used, obscure or complex functionality, and/or functional layer or level and/or mode complexity.
If all the foregoing appears like to much "rambling", I might have apologized were it not a description "plucked" from my own experiences and one upon which I so highly regard my choice of Kingsoft Office. Why Kingsoft Office?
When I first came across Kingsoft Office - Writer it was from a magazine review of software products that could 'open', 'edit', 'save' .doc and .docx files, and a review in which Kingsoft "Writer" and the Kingsoft "Office" suite in which "Writer" is the lead software product was the 'Top Pick" out of 11 plus "Word" file type handlers. Although "Writer" had received an impressive review I was still 'blown away' after installing and after wondering into every "dark recess" the product probably offered. That was way back in 2007 and I have been "ensnared, hooked, trapped and captivated" by Kingsoft Office, and especially by Writer and Spreadsheets, ever since!
PS: I do not and cannot foresee using any other word processing or spreadsheet formulator. Writer and Spreadsheets from Kingsoft have continued to provide improved functional performance and additional functionality without 'bloating', and has even achieved the occasional footprint size reduction.
