What's a word prosessore?

Hello there!

Nowadays, a word processor is a type of software that displays characters based on input via a keyboard. This type of software allows the "word processor" or user to edit, modify, and format documents based on display preferences.

Back in the day, a word processor was a stand alone unit, however with the advent of desktop computers, these stand alone units became obsolete and the software version became the most widely used option to create documents with visual and graphical capabilities that are not possible to achieve by using a typewriter.

It may seem confusing, especially since we have the ability to type and format text straight from our keyboards to... let's say a post in a forum, like the posts we have here. However, we do not have the ability to create the type of documents that you can create in a word processing program. You also can't perform things like mail merge, or create a table of contents, format the text to read like a newspaper, etc. Although, you could possibly write "code" to perform some (I don't believe all) of these functions, but using a word processor would be much simpler and straight forward, as this is what its purpose is intended.

Sure hope that helps... please, if anyone should feel I didn't explain this correctly, let us know. I hope I have explained it right?

I am a rather old guy, so I remember PW (Professional Writer I think) from the DOS days. A great word processor. I hope this one is as good.
