And after it later became clear at Auburn Community Hospital that the 25 year old Auburn woman could not be Travis Swanson Kids Jersey saved, he continued to insist that heroin had not been used.

Instead, Budelmann said Malenick "gratuitously" reported lies to the Auburn Police Department and pointed fingers at others launching a suspicious death investigation that stretched across four months.

"As tragic as it was, if he had come clean early on, it would've been closed out as a non criminal overdose early on," he said. "That's why police investigated it as a homicide, because police didn't know why this young girl died."

And for giving Gentile heroin and lying to investigators, Malenick faces spending half a decade in prison.

Budelmann said Malenick, 27, pleaded guilty to third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a felony, and third degree falsely reporting an incident, a misdemeanor.

In exchange for his plea, Malenick was promised a sentence of five years in prison and two years of post release supervision.

Budelmann said Malenick's plea came on the heels of a recent admission by his co defendant.

Before his scheduled pre trial hearing on March 4, Joseph "Max" Ferrara pleaded guilty to third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, admitting he sold Malenick heroin the night before Gentile's death.

For his plea, the Auburn man faces spending four years in prison and two years of post release supervision.
